Summary
AgEnRes addresses urgent challenges faced by European agriculture due to fluctuating fossil fuel and fertiliser prices, exacerbated by recent global events. Our project aims to create sustainable pathways for reducing dependence on these resources, enhancing farmers' incomes, and ensuring food affordability for consumers.
We approach this through three key components:
- Developing a conceptual framework and database to identify policy targets, technologies, and data requirements.
- Analyzing past and present energy dependence and preferred solutions in the agricultural sector.
- Building foresight models to assess the impacts of innovations and policies at different scales.
By engaging stakeholders and the public, we aim to design realistic, sustainable solutions that promote resilience and decrease energy dependence in European agriculture. Our ultimate goal is to develop an innovative toolbox to support these efforts.
